Forest Park station, where the Lake Street L ran at street level
1910
Forest Park, Illinois
The west end of the Lake Street L ran at street level, and from May 1910 this ground-level stop in Forest Park was the end of the line. In October 1962 the CTA lifted the line onto the old Chicago and North Western embankment, closed this terminal and opened a new one a few blocks east at Harlem, which is still the end of the Green Line today.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
