Fletcher High, the beaches' own school, built with New Deal money
1937
Neptune Beach, Florida
Senator Duncan U. Fletcher secured the federal grant that finally gave the beach towns a high school of their own, with Public Works Administration money covering part of the roughly 75,000 dollar cost. Marsh and Saxelbye designed the two storey brick building, which opened on September 20, 1937 with 269 students in grades seven through twelve. The school moved to this Seagate Avenue campus in Neptune Beach in 1964.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
