Farrand Park and the houses the five dollar day built
1917
Highland Park, Michigan
Andrew Jameson · CC BY-SA 3.0 · Wikimedia Commons
Highland Park held 427 people in 1900. Ford, Brush-Maxwell and Burroughs built plants there and by 1920 the population was 46,499, a hundredfold rise in twenty years. This district of 422 single family houses on five streets between Woodward and Oakland is what that arithmetic looked like on the ground, along with Albert Kahn's McGregor Library at its edge.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
