Seattle investors led by E. L. Skeel formed the Mercer Land Company in 1908 and platted a town beside the railroad tracks here, calling it Mercer. A stove works went up on the site and never made a stove. By 1911 the company had refiled the plat under the name Factoria, picked in the hope that heavy industry would follow the word. It never did. Offices and shops filled the district instead, and Bellevue annexed it in 1993.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
