Ellicott City station, the oldest surviving railroad station in America
1830
Ellicott City, Maryland
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
The Baltimore and Ohio built this granite depot in 1830 as the end of its first thirteen miles of track, running from Baltimore to the town then called Ellicott's Mills. Locomotives were serviced here at the end of the run. It is the oldest surviving passenger railroad station in the United States and one of the oldest anywhere, and now operates as a museum.
