1835
Relay, Maryland
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The Baltimore and Ohio built this stone arch bridge between 4 July 1833 and 4 July 1835 and named it for Philip E. Thomas, the company's first president. It was the largest railroad bridge in the country when it opened and the first American masonry railroad bridge laid out on a curve. It was made a National Historic Landmark in 1964 and still carries freight.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
