Dublin, the first neighbourhood Paterson built
1830
Dublin, Downtown Paterson, New Jersey
Dublin was the first distinct neighbourhood in Paterson, the blocks of mill housing that filled in on the east bank of the Passaic below the Great Falls. Pierre Charles L'Enfant had laid the street grid out for the Society for Establishing Useful Manufactures, and Irish workers from the mills and machine shops moved onto it. The same streets carried Italian families afterward and Peruvian families after that, so the neighbourhood the Irish named is now Little Italy and Little Lima.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
