Woodlawn Heights, the Bronx corner still called Little Ireland

This patch at the very top of the borough was Westchester farmland until it was annexed by New York City in 1874, and it took its name from the cemetery along its southern edge. It became, and has stayed, the most Irish neighbourhood in the city, one of the few places where young Irish immigrants still turn up in numbers. McLean Avenue at the top of it runs on into Yonkers.
