George Romero shot Dawn of the Dead here over the winter of 1977 and 1978, working overnight after the shops closed and using the mall's own staff and skating rink. The film turned a suburban shopping centre into the standard image of American consumption, and fans have made pilgrimages to the balcony and the fountain ever since. The mall itself opened in 1969 and was built by Oxford Development. Walmart bought the property in January 2025 and plans to tear it down.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
