Casa Linda Plaza is the oldest shopping centre in Dallas
1945
Casa Linda, Dallas, Texas
Carl Martin Brown and his son Howard bought more than 600 acres of East Dallas farmland in 1937 and put a shopping centre on the corner of it. The Casa Linda Theatre opened on 9 August 1945 under a neon tower and was the first major building on the site, with the rest going up around it in Spanish Revival tile and masonry, down to Spanish street names. Tom Thumb, Skillern's Drugs, El Fenix and Wyatt's Cafeteria were among the first tenants. The cinema closed in 1999 and the plaza is still trading.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
