Cal State Dominguez Hills is moved here after Watts burns
1965
Carson, California
The legislature authorised a South Bay state college in 1960 and it was renamed for Palos Verdes, where the campus was to be built on the hill above the coast. After the 1965 Watts uprising Governor Pat Brown moved the site to Dominguez Hills, on the flat ground within reach of the neighbourhoods the McCone Commission had just finished studying. Classes began on the permanent campus in October 1968. It now enrols more Black students than any other campus in the California State University system.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
