Briarcliff Lodge, one of the largest wooden buildings in America
1902
Briarcliff Manor, New York
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Walter William Law built this Tudor Revival resort on his own estate and opened it in 1902, the same year the village of Briarcliff Manor incorporated around it. It was Westchester's first hotel, one of the largest resorts in the world at opening, and one of the largest wooden structures ever raised in the United States. Presidents and royalty stayed. The King's College took the building over in 1955 and closed in 1994.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
