The Philipsburgh Building, Westchester's first fireproof office block
1904

G. Howard Chamberlin designed this Beaux Arts block in 1904 and had it built entirely in concrete, which made it the first fireproof office building in Westchester County. Inside was a ballroom with thirty foot ceilings and heavy gold leaf that carried the social calendar of Yonkers for years. It stands a block from Philipse Manor Hall and borrows the same colonial estate's name.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
