The reservoir was finished in February 1955 on ground bought from a dairy farm and filled that April. Most of what is in it started as snowmelt on the western slope, pulled under the Continental Divide through the Alva B. Adams Tunnel and delivered by the Boulder Feeder Canal as part of the Colorado-Big Thompson Project. It supplies about a fifth of Boulder's drinking water and doubles as the city's beach.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
