Beth El moves to St. Louis Park
1968
St. Louis Park, Minnesota
Minneapolis carried a national reputation for anti-Semitism in hiring and housing, and Jewish families leaving the North Side found neighbouring suburbs restricted by covenants over who could buy while St. Louis Park largely was not. By 1959 more than a quarter of the city's Jewish population had moved here. Beth El, founded on the North Side in 1922 and the last congregation formed there, dedicated its St. Louis Park building in 1968.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
