Eldridge Johnson, the machinist who founded the Victor Talking Machine Company, bought the ground and paid for a neoclassical branch library that opened in 1918.
Camden was the headquarters of the Victor Talking Machine Company from 1901 and of RCA Victor after the 1929 merger.
Wilson Eyre, the Philadelphia architect who shaped the shingle style along the Main Line, designed this house and doctor's office on Cooper Street in 1884.
