A waterfront community festival on Galveston Bay at Sylvan Beach Park, with a signature parade, carnival rides, live music, and craft vendors. Run by the La Porte-Bayshore Chamber of Commerce, it has been a fixture of the Bayshore community's spring calendar for nearly seven decades.

This was New Washington, Colonel James Morgan's landing at the mouth of the ship channel.
La Porte formed its school district in 1915 and put up a three storey red brick building that took in students bused from Lomax and Morgan's Point.
The Port of Houston opened its first terminal built for standardised containers here in January 1977, the first in Texas and the first on the Gulf of Mexico.
A syndicate of developers out of Denver platted a town on the bay shore in 1892 and named it with the French word for door.
