Naper Settlement's Oktoberfest fills the 13 acre living history museum with a beer tent, German food from local restaurants, live music, and a steinholding contest each October. The two day festival is held on the museum grounds in downtown Naperville. It is one of the settlement's signature annual fundraising events.

Eudora Spalding founded the Edward Sanitorium in 1907 in memory of her husband Edward Gaylord, who had died of tuberculosis, and it became one of the first treatment centres of its kind in the Great Lakes region.
Naperville marked the turn of the millennium by raising a 160 foot concrete tower on its Riverwalk and hanging a grand carillon of 72 bells inside it, one of only a handful at that size anywhere in the country.
