Caroline Martin Mitchell left her family's estate to the city of Naperville in 1936. In 1969 the city made it an outdoor history museum and began moving threatened buildings onto the grounds, from an 1830s log house to a Victorian church and a stone carriage house. About thirty structures stand there now, covering the century from Joseph Naper's 1831 settlement to the early 1900s, staffed by interpreters in period dress.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
