A juried arts and crafts fair through the storefronts of historic downtown Frankfort, produced by the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce since the 1960s. Now in its 58th year, it draws regional crowds without a big city marketing budget, filling Kansas Street and the surrounding blocks each Labor Day weekend.

Jarad Higgins, later the rapper Juice WRLD, graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in 2017.
An Ohio newspaper editor named William McClintock bought eighty acres of farmland here in 1890 and built a depot so the local milk train would have a reason to stop, which is how the settlement got its connection to Chicago.
Members of Chicago's Standard Club, a Jewish social club, founded Ravisloe on a Homewood farm in 1901, and it is recognised as the first Jewish country club in the region.
The Illinois Central built this depot in 1923 for the Panama Limited and the Seminole Limited and had two of its own engineers design it in Mission Revival, with a barrel tile roof, rough stucco walls and undulating parapets.
The Illinois Central authorised a large classification yard between Harvey and Homewood in 1917, held the work up through the war and finished it in 1926, naming it for Charles H.
