Yarrow Point is named after a Wordsworth poem

Leigh S. J. Hunt bought most of this peninsula in 1888 while he was running the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, built a house on its northern shore and named the place Yarrow after Wordsworth's poem Yarrow Visited. He deeded land at the base of the point to the banker Jacob Furth, who built a summer estate on it. A small farming community held on here into the middle of the twentieth century. The town incorporated in 1959 and had 1,134 residents at the 2020 census.
