Hamilton V. Meeks organised the Woodcliff Land Improvement Company in 1891 and sold building lots on the plateau above the Palisades. The county opened a 167 acre park at the centre of the section in 1910, now named for the boxer James J. Braddock, who lived in the township. Streetcars of the North Hudson County Railway carried buyers and day trippers up Bergenline Avenue to the roadhouse at Nungesser's until the line quit in 1949.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
