Until 1964 every Black student in Plano, first grade through twelfth, was taught in the four rooms of the Frederick Douglass School, on a curriculum the state had already found unequal. The board voted that year to let them transfer into Plano High School, built on this site in 1961, and every eligible student chose to go. Douglass closed as a segregated school and the integrated varsity took a district championship in 1965. The building was renamed for principal T. H. Williams once Plano Senior High opened in 1975.
