Viking Range brings Greenwood back
Greenwood, Mississippi
![]()
Fred Carl Jr., a fourth-generation Greenwood contractor, wanted a restaurant range for his own kitchen, could not buy one, and had it designed. Viking created the professional-style home appliance market outright. He then put the profits into the town, a hotel, a cooking school, restored buildings, on the argument that a company should be worth something to the place it is in.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
