Trinity seminary opens in Ambridge and helps split a church

Seventeen students, none of them sponsored by a bishop, started classes in rented rooms in Ambridge in 1976. The founders were Episcopal evangelicals who thought the established seminaries had drifted, and the school soon bought an empty Presbyterian church and the abandoned supermarket across the street. Its graduates went on to staff the breakaway Anglican Church in North America, and in 2024 the school dropped Episcopal from its name.
