The world's first electric streetcars
1888
Richmond, Virginia
Frank Sprague took a contract nobody thought possible, forty cars on Richmond's steep hills, and built the first successful large electric streetcar system in the world. It worked, and within two years over a hundred cities had ordered one. The modern commuting suburb starts here.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
