The Winters House, the only National Register building in Bellevue
1929
Bellevue, Washington

Frederick and Cecilia Winters ran a bulb and azalea farm at the edge of Mercer Slough, bringing in Dutch and Spanish stock by the carload until a 1926 quarantine on imported bulbs cut the supply off. They built this Mission Revival house on the property in 1929. It went on the National Register in 1992 and is still the only building in Bellevue with that listing. The city owns it and closed it for years while light rail was cut through Bellevue Way.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
