The West Virginia State Fair
1924
Fairlea, Greenbrier County, West Virginia
Ten days in the Greenbrier Valley every August, run since 1924 by a private association rather than the state despite the name, which is why it survived years when the legislature would not have funded it. The livestock barns are the actual event and the grandstand acts are the excuse. Farm families book the same campsite for decades.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
