Denton, Texas

Denton had been holding livestock fairs and horse races since 1885, but the modern fair dates to 1928, when the county agricultural association took it over and added a parade, a carnival and rodeo events. It was chartered in 1930. In 1948 a local physician, W. C. Kimbrough, sold the association 22 acres in northeast Denton for five dollars, and the fair has been there ever since.
