The University of North Texas starts above a hardware store off the square
1890
Denton, Texas
It opened in 1890 as a private teacher training school holding classes on the floor above a hardware store just off the Denton square, and moved into its own building the following year. The state took it over in 1901 and it did not get its current name until 1988. It now enrols more students than any other university in the Dallas and Fort Worth area.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
