Polytechnic College founds a town, then the town disappears
1890
Polytechnic Heights, Fort Worth, Texas
Fort Worth businessmen gave the Methodist church 300 acres in 1890 for a new college. Fifty acres became the campus and the other 250 were sold off as the town of Polytechnic Heights. Classes began in 1891 with 105 students. The college spent 1914 to 1934 admitting only women, Fort Worth annexed the town in 1922, and the school is now Texas Wesleyan University.
