The University of Michigan opens a campus on Ford land in Dearborn
1959
Dearborn, Michigan
Ford Motor Company gave the university land beside the Rouge and money to build on it, and the Dearborn Center opened in 1959 as a remote branch of Ann Arbor. It received its own accreditation in 1970 and took the name University of Michigan Dearborn. The campus occupies part of the old Fair Lane estate.
