Lowell, Massachusetts

The arena opened in January 1998, a year after the death of Paul Tsongas, the Lowell congressman and senator who ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1992. Massachusetts put twenty million dollars into it and the city and university four million between them. UMass Lowell hockey plays there and it serves as the city's concert hall.
