The Thebes Bridge, built for trains that had nowhere to cross
1905

Five steel spans carrying railway across the Mississippi, opened in 1905 because everything moving south had been stopping at the water and going onto ferries. It was among the heaviest bridges of its type when it was built, and the approach viaducts on the Missouri side run most of a mile. Freight still uses it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
