The Big Four Bridge

A railroad bridge across the Ohio whose approach ramps were torn off for scrap in 1969 when the trains stopped, leaving the span stranded mid-river, the Bridge to Nowhere, for forty years a rusting fact of the skyline. Both cities finally rebuilt the ramps as a walking path, lit at night, and the dead bridge became one of the busiest public places on the whole river.
