The Polychrome Houses and John Earley's coloured concrete panels

John Joseph Earley built five houses at Four Corners in 1934 and 1935 out of precast concrete panels two inches thick, hung on ordinary wood framing. Coloured aggregate in the mix gave the walls their patterned surfaces, finished with Art Deco detail. Earley was chasing the same target as Frank Lloyd Wright's Usonian houses, a small house cheap enough to mass produce.
