The Pelham Picture House, showing films since 1921

The Picture House opened on Wolf's Lane in September 1921 with a silent comedy drama and has run as a cinema, with gaps, ever since, which makes it the oldest one in Westchester. It is Spanish Revival, set at an angle across its corner, with tiled hoods over the end bay windows and an open truss ceiling above the auditorium. When it went up for sale in the early 2000s and demolition looked likely, neighbours organised to buy it, and it now runs as a non profit film centre.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
