O'Neil Ford and Arch Swank designed the chapel and the National Youth Administration paid for the labour during the Depression. More than three hundred students made the stained glass, the brass light fittings, the carved pews and the beams, working to a theme of women at work in the world. Eleanor Roosevelt gave the address at the dedication on 1 November 1939, and WFAA carried it on the radio.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
