The Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge puts back a crossing the lake swallowed
2009
Lake Dallas, Texas
A bridge used to tie the east and west halves of Denton County together here, and the Army Corps of Engineers took it out in the 1950s when it enlarged the lake. Drivers spent the next fifty years going the long way round. County voters approved a bond for a replacement in 1991, construction started in 2006, and the 1.7 mile tied arch span opened on 1 August 2009 at a cost of about 118 million dollars. It runs from Swisher Road in Lake Dallas across to Eldorado Parkway in Lakewood Village and is the second longest bridge in North Texas.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
