Theodore Brandle ran the Hudson County building trades and in 1926 founded a bank for them, the Labor National Bank, then put up this fifteen storey headquarters two years later. It was the first skyscraper in Jersey City, and for a while Brandle was powerful enough to be Mayor Frank Hague's partner rather than his subject. That ended over the Pulaski Skyway contracts, Hague turned on him, and the bank did not survive the Depression.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
