The Jersey City Medical Center, Frank Hague's monument

Frank Hague was mayor from 1917 to 1947 and built this Art Deco hospital complex on the hill above his city, naming the ten storey maternity building for his mother Margaret. More than 350,000 babies were delivered there. Hague also told a city official in 1937 "I am the law", and his ban on the CIO holding meetings without a permit went to the Supreme Court as Hague v. CIO in 1939, where he lost and the country gained the public forum doctrine.
