The Joseph Cooper House, built in 1695 and burned in 2005
1695
Camden, New Jersey
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The Cooper family took up land at the confluence of the Delaware and the Cooper River in the 1680s, and this brick house went up in 1695. Camden grew out of their ferry landing and their street grid, and half the city's place names are still theirs. A fire took the roof around 2005 and the shell stands in Pyne Poynt Park.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
