The Hyattsville Armory, a medieval castle on a residential street
1918
Hyattsville, Maryland
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
This was the first National Guard armory built in Prince George's County and the fifth in Maryland. Robert Lawrence Harris, who served as State Architect under Governor Albert Ritchie, patterned the drill hall on an English castle and built it out of native stone. Harris went on to supervise the design of a dozen more Maryland armories, from Salisbury to Cumberland.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
