Catholina Lambert came to America as a boy, made a fortune in Paterson silk, and put a medieval revival house on the side of Garret Mountain in 1891 and 1892 where the whole city could see it. He added an art gallery in 1896 and a seventy foot observation tower on the rock above. His family sold the place to the city after he died in 1923, and Passaic County has run it as a museum since the 1930s. The tower was shut for decades and reopened in 2014.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
