The Huey P. Long Bridge
1935
Jefferson Parish, Louisiana
formulanone from Huntsville, United States · CC BY-SA 2.0 · Wikimedia Commons
The first bridge over the Mississippi in Louisiana, carrying rail and road, opened three months after his death. Its approaches run for miles at a shallow grade because the trains had to climb gradually, which is why crossing it feels longer than the river is wide.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
