The Greater St. Louis Air and Space Museum, in Parks Air College's hangar
1930
St. Louis Downtown Airport, Cahokia Heights, Illinois
Hangar 2 was finished in March 1930 at the newly opened Curtiss-Steinberg field in Cahokia. Oliver Parks, whose Parks Air College held the federal government's flight school certificate number one, expanded here in 1939 to train pilots for the Civilian Pilot Training Program, and the college kept flying out of the hangar until the mid 1990s. An air and space museum occupies it today, and Hangars 1 and 2 are both on the National Register.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
