The Forest Park Carousel
1903
Forest Park, Woodhaven, Queens
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
Daniel Carl Muller carved most of the fifty two horses on this machine around 1903, and only two of his carousels are known to survive. It came here from an amusement park in Dracut, Massachusetts in 1972, after fire destroyed the park's earlier Dentzel carousel in 1966. In 2013 it became the first carousel in New York City protected as an individual landmark.
