The Flushing Meadows carousel is two Coney Island carousels in one

When the 1964 World's Fair wanted a carousel, two older ones were taken apart and combined into a single ride carrying sixty four jumping horses, seven standing horses, a lion and two chariots. Most of the figures were carved in Coney Island in the first decade of the twentieth century by Marcus Illions, among the best known carvers in the trade. The ride was moved to its present spot in the park in 1968 and has run there since. It was listed on the National Register in 2016.
