The Duane Doty School, the oldest Arts and Crafts schoolhouse in Detroit
1909
Third Street, Detroit
Andrew Jameson · CC BY-SA 3.0 · Wikimedia Commons
Malcomson and Higginbotham designed this school on Third Street in the Arts and Crafts manner, unusual for a public building of 1908, and it opened to children in the autumn of 1909. It is the oldest school of that style in the city and probably in the state. The exterior has not been altered since it was built, and there are still classes inside.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
