Lakeview School, the two room schoolhouse from Mercer Island's ferry years
1918
Mercer Island, Washington

This school opened in 1918 to hold all eight grades of Mercer Island's children, back when the island was reached only by steamer and had no bridge. The South Mercer Community Club bought the building in 1945. Eleanor Wolf and Marienne Fellows, who founded the island's nursery school association in 1957, ran a nursery school inside it, and the building has operated as Sunnybeam School since 1972.
